I hated Geometry in High School.  As a matter of fact - I hated math in general.  But one thing did stick with me - the Venn Diagram.  I liked what it represented - two circles merging to make a common area.  You don’t have to break your own circle - you just have to share a part of it with another.  I think a relationship should have the same properties - you should still have parts of you that belong to only you. 

I used to think that finding someone you share your life with meant either finding someone exactly alike or changing and becoming someone you’re not.  But I don’t believe that anymore.  How do you share - how do you bring different things to the table when you have the same goods and bads?  You don’t. 

That’s basically the idea of the song - finding another circle and pairing up - giving all you got but still holding up your end of the bargain.  I know, it’s easier than it sounds:)

Regardless, it sure made a good song to write.
